Vernon Folk Roots Music Society is 100% volunteer-run registered non-profit organization dedicated to bringing live folk/roots music to the Vernon area.
About Us
The Vernon Folk Roots Music Society was formed in 2014 to bring the best in folk, roots, blues, bluegrass, and Americana music to the North Okanagan. We’re a registered non-profit, 100% volunteer-run, and we put on 8–10 shows a season from September through June.
We present most of our concerts at the Vernon Jazz Club — a venue with a story as rich as the music we bring to it. The building at 3000 31st Street was built in 1906 as a sales outlet for farm machinery, with hay stored on the second floor. Over the decades that upstairs space served as the Ranchers’ Club, a men-only social club complete with a peephole in the door, and eventually the home of the Vernon Jazz Society, which has been making music there since 2000. Today, with its hammered tin ceilings, wood-paneled walls, and cabaret-style seating for 140, it’s one of the most intimate and atmospheric live music rooms in British Columbia.
We’re deeply grateful to the Vernon Jazz Society for generously sharing this remarkable space with us. Their commitment to live music in Vernon made our concert series possible, and performing in a room with this much history and character is something our artists and audiences never forget.
Whether you’re a lifelong folk fan or just discovering roots music for the first time, we invite you to pull up a chair, grab a drink from the bar, and experience a show the way it’s meant to be heard — up close and personal.

Our Mission Statement
Our Mission
We exist to give folk and roots music a stage in the North Okanagan — a real one, in a room where you can see the sweat on the strings. We bring local and touring artists to Vernon, keep tickets affordable, and make sure there’s always a place in this community where original, traditional, and acoustic music is alive and celebrated.
