About the event
Chris Ronald started writing songs at 15 when he set one of his school poems to music. Then he waited nearly twenty years to do anything about it. After emigrating from England to Vancouver in 2002, he self-produced his first albums and started playing small gigs around the city — the kind of rooms where you sell CDs out of a bag by the door. It didn't take long for people to notice. The Georgia Straight praised his songwriting and clear tenor voice and wondered where he'd been hiding.
His 2014 album Timeline earned a Songwriter of the Year nomination at the Canadian Folk Music Awards and caught the attention of Borealis Records, one of Canada's top folk labels. Two more albums followed — Fragments and Light & Dark — both reaching the top 10 on the international Folk Radio chart.
